Haringey Council is today opening a new borough-wide Call for Sites that we would like to bring to your attention.
This exercise invites landowners, developers and other stakeholders to submit sites or broad locations that could potentially be developed for housing, commercial, industrial or other purposes within the next 15 years.

What is the Call for Sites?

<h2>What is the Call for Sites?</h2>The Call for Sites is a focused engagement exercise to help the Council identify land and sites that may potentially be available in the borough for future development, whether that be for housing, employment uses or a mix of uses.&nbsp;

<h2>What does the Call for Sites aim to achieve?</h2>1. Identify&nbsp;land with the potential to support growth of housing and/or the&nbsp;local&nbsp;economy.<ul><li>Identify sites for potential future development to be assessed for inclusion in the new Local Plan.</li><li>Secure enough sites to help meet Haringey&#39;s annual housing target of 1592 new homes, with a five-year housing land supply identified as required by national planning policy</li><li>Identify&nbsp;sites for commercial and industrial development&nbsp;which&nbsp;will create business opportunities and attract investment,&nbsp;creating jobs and growing the Haringey economy</li><li>Help&nbsp;achieve&nbsp;the&nbsp;High-Level&nbsp;Outcome for &lsquo;Homes for the Future&rsquo; in the Council&#39;s Corporate Delivery Plan&nbsp;of&nbsp;ensuring that everyone has&nbsp;a home that is safe, sustainable,&nbsp;stable&nbsp;and&nbsp;affordable</li></ul>2. <h2>How does the Call for Sites relate to the New Local Plan and what happens next?</h2>The Call for Sites is an important step in the development of the New Local Plan for Haringey, a draft of which is due to be published later in 2024.&nbsp;The Local Plan is the main planning document for the borough and must seek to meet the future development needs of the borough, including the housing target of 1592 homes per year set by the Mayor of London in the London Plan 2021.&nbsp;The first step to doing this is to identify all land and sites that are potentially available for development in the borough. The Council is already aware of lots of sites in the borough but it is important we are aware of as many development opportunities as possible. The Call for Sites will help ensure we do this.&nbsp;The second step is for the Council to assess identified land and sites to see whether they are suitable for future development and the likely time horizon. This will involve a thorough assessment by planning officers including consideration of a full range of planning issues.The third step will be to prepare site allocations for land and sites that are deemed to be suitable for future development. Site allocations will set out the uses expected on sites and key design parameters and considerations.&nbsp;Draft site allocations will be published in the Draft Local Plan and there will be at least two opportunities for residents and other stakeholders to provide feedback on the proposals before the Local Plan is assessed for soundness by an independent Planning Inspector appointed by the Government.

<h2 id="isPasted">Can residents participate in the Call for Sites?</h2>Yes. The Council is keen to understand the full range of land and sites in the borough that may be available for potential future development. This could include vacant sites in your neighbourhood or sites which you think comprise an inefficient use of land and could be better used and developed in the future.It is not necessary for you to provide detailed information for a given piece of land or site, however the more information you can provide the quicker and easier it will be for the Council to assess the potential opportunity.&nbsp;<h2>How can I submit a response to the Call for Sites?</h2>You can do this in one of two ways:1. By completing the digital survey on the next page&nbsp;2. By completing the above form and emailing it to <a href="mailto:planningpolicy@haringey.gov.uk" id="isPasted">planning.policy@haringey.gov.uk</a> using the subject line &#39;Call for Sites 2024&#39;Please note that a separate form is required for each site you wish to submit.&nbsp;As part of our efforts to reach as many stakeholders as possible, the Council has sent out a Call for Sites email notification to our Local Plan consultation database.
